David Chase, 78, is an Emmy-winning TV writer, producer and director. He created, wrote and produced “The Sopranos,” which first aired on HBO 25 years ago this month. He won five Emmys for the series. He spoke with Marc Myers. 

My family despised the mob when I was a kid, not just for their criminal activity but also the loud wealth that came with it.
