Rutgers journalism professor Caitlin Petre will speak Jan. 25 via Zoom with New Yorker staff writer and author Andrew Marantz about Petre’s new book on how performance metrics are affecting journalism.

The conversation is co-presented by the Montclair Public Library Foundation and the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists.

Petre is an assistant professor of journalism and media studies at Rutgers University, specializing in the social processes behind the digital datasets and algorithms that increasingly govern the contemporary world, according to a Montclair Public Library release. Her new book, “All the News That’s Fit to Click: How Metrics Are Transforming the Work of Journalists,” offers a behind-the-scenes look at how performance analytics are transforming the work of journalism, the release says.
