What Papa misses most about sports amid coronavirus hiatus - NBCSports.com

Getting to the Super Bowl is difficult enough. But for a team like the 49ers who came up short the year before, finding a way back to the NFL’s greatest stage is especially difficult.

Jerry Rice knows a thing or two about consecutive trips to the Super Bowl, having helped the Niners win Super Bowl XXIII and XXIV in back-to-back seasons. He emphasizes that the 49ers need to capitalize on the team’s championship window.

"We came up a little short in the Super Bowl, but we had a great season last year," Rice told 49ers team reporter Keiana Martin on Instagram Live. "I feel like they still have all those pieces in place right now. The time is now for the San Francisco 49ers. It's right now. You can't be looking down the road. You've got everybody in place right now, so you need to get it done."

Rice did emphasize that while San Francisco is among the best in the NFL, making it to the Super Bowl means teams always will bring their A-game.

"I think you're a target now," Rice explained, "because every team is going to give you their best shot. Every game is going to be like a playoff game, and I have gone through this. It's hard the next year. You've got to battle through, but I feel like they have the players that can do that.”

Adding players like Trent Williams, Javon Kinlaw and Brandon Aiyuk should only stand to help what arguably is the best roster in football top-to-bottom.

Will we be seeing the Faithful descending on Tampa next February for Super Bowl LV?

Perhaps, but it will be far from a cakewalk.
