  • Samsung is giving Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Flip 5G buyers 100 days to try the phones risk-free.
  • It’s hoping the move will get people to try foldable phones they’d otherwise shy away from.
  • The offer lasts until April 1.

Have you wanted to try a foldable phone, but balked at the thought of spending a small fortune when you’re not even sure you like the concept? Samsung thinks it can set your mind at ease. It’s launching a US promo that lets you try a Galaxy foldable for 100 days risk-free.

Buy the Galaxy Z Fold 2 ($1,999.99) or Galaxy Z Flip 5G ($1,099.99) from Samsung’s website by April 1 and you’ll have that previously mentioned 100 days to return the phone rather than the two weeks you typically get from retailers. In other words, you can truly get comfortable with a Galaxy foldable before deciding whether or not it fits your lifestyle.

You’ll also get an “enhanced” $550 trade-in credit for eligible devices, plus a $200 instant credit toward accessories.

There’s no mystery behind Samsung’s reasoning. It’s hoping to reel in customers who have the money for a Z Fold or Z Flip, but retreat to a familiar design like the Galaxy S21 since they can’t realistically try a foldable — certainly not during a pandemic, when stores are closed or risky. While this move isn’t about to make folding phones wildly popular, it might expand the audience and prime the market for future devices.
