  • Sony has launched a registration page that can move you to the front of the PlayStation 5 pre-order queue in the US.
  • If you’re selected, you’ll get to order one system.
  • You’re not guaranteed a spot, and you’ll have to act quickly.

Sony still isn’t taking PlayStation 5 pre-orders, but you now have a chance to jump to the front of the line, if you’re lucky.

Twitter tipster Wario 64 has learned of a Sony registration page that lets US gamers with PSN IDs sign up for an email invitation to pre-order before most of the public. The company hasn’t said how many people it will pick or just what will increase your odds, but it’s choosing people based on “previous interests and PlayStation activities.”

If you’re selected, you’ll get to pre-order one PS5 (regular or Digital Edition) and up to two each of Sony accessories like DualSense controllers, charging stations, Pulse 3D headsets, media remotes, and cameras. The ordering window has an expiration date, and pre-orders will be on a “first come first serve” basis — you aren’t guaranteed to get one even if you’re invited.

It might be worth signing up. While it’s not certain just how many PS5 units will be available this holiday season, Sony has warned that “limited quantities and high demand” will come into play. You won’t have to compete with the broader public for units that could easily sell out.

Sony still hasn’t committed to pricing or a launch date, however. While the company hasn’t said why, many believe it’s remaining silent on PS5 launch details to prevent Microsoft from selling the Xbox Series X at a lower (or at least more competitive) price. Until either side blinks, this registration page may be as close as you get to putting money down on Sony’s next-gen console.
