About us | Fight inequality to end poverty and injustice - Oxfam America

A graphic showing inequality is at the intersection of all areas of our work.

Inequality sits at the intersection of all areas of our work. Across our focus areas we critically examine how inequality shapes disparities around poverty, gender, race, and wealth. We make lasting change happen by bringing people together, connecting legislators and leaders in the private and public sectors with communities directly affected by poverty and injustice.

Economic justice and equal rights

Oxfam champions workers’ rights and challenges the extreme concentration of global wealth and power. We fight efforts by elites to divide us based on race, gender, nationality, and class so that no one goes to bed hungry and everyone has an equal chance to succeed. Learn more.

Women’s rights and gender justice

Oxfam partners with feminist and women-led organizations to end gender discrimination in all its forms and to help women and girls live free from violence while controlling their own destinies. Learn more.

Humanitarian response

Oxfam offers lifesaving support in times of crisis and advocates for the rights of people searching for safety. We work with local leaders who are best placed to respond when disaster strikes their communities and best placed to alleviate suffering caused by climate impacts, economic injustice, and violence. Learn more.

Climate action

Oxfam supports climate solutions crafted by the people and communities most affected by the climate crisis and calls on wealthy polluters to reduce their emissions, pay their fair share of damages, and support a fair transition from fossil fuels to a sustainable and just energy future. Learn more.
