Tennessee redshirt sophomore becomes latest player to talk about massive culture change on Rocky Top - atozsportsnashville.com

Another day, another Tennessee Vols player talking about the massive culture change taking place at UT under new head coach Josh Heupel.

Over the weekend, it was sophomore Tyler Baron who spoke extensively about the new culture under Heupel, saying at one point that players were “just getting through” under previous head coach Jeremy Pruitt.

On Monday, redshirt sophomore Dayne Davis echoed Baron’s comments.

“It’s a complete culture change in the locker room,” said Davis. “Everybody is wanting to go to practice now. Before it was kinda, ‘Uh, kind of dreading today.’ But practice is fun now, everything is fun. We’re all ready to be here in the mornings.”

“It just wasn’t fun being around here under the last staff,” added Davis. “Really just was an agonizing kind of feeling, but it’s very much changed now.”

Davis, a Bluff City, TN native, certainly didn’t mince words when talking about the Pruitt era.

It’s easy to see why the program struggled so much under Pruitt — the “agonizing” environment wasn’t conducive to success.

Fortunately for the Vols, the Pruitt era is in the rearview mirror.

Though I’m sure the comments from Davis aren’t the last we’ll hear of the culture change that’s happening under Heupel.
