About 50% of Northlanders have at least 1 COVID-19 vaccine dose - Pine Journal

The Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of health reported 76 new cases in the Northland on Friday. There were no new COVID-19-related deaths in the region.

Across Minnesota, there were 1,453 new positive cases and 12 COVID-19-related deaths. Wisconsin reported 662 new cases and seven more deaths.

New cases and seven-day averages in Northland counties:

  • Aitkin — 2; 2.1.
  • Carlton — 5; 6.9.
  • Cook — 0; 0.1.
  • Itasca — 32; 29.4.
  • Koochiching — 0; 2.4.
  • Lake — 0; 0.9.
  • St. Louis — 30; 41.3.
  • Ashland — 1; 2.7.
  • Bayfield— 1; 1.9.
  • Douglas— 5; 7.4.

Second doses of COVID-19 vaccine continue to make up the majority of new vaccine administrations in the area. According to Friday's vaccine data, 530 more Northlanders received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the Northland's rate of people with at least one vaccine dose to just under 50%.

There are now 171,393 people in the Northland's 10 counties who are fully vaccinated, an increase of 1,635 from the day before.

Percentage of people with at least one vaccine dose in each county:

  • Aitkin — 46%.
  • Carlton — 53%.
  • Cook — 69%.
  • Itasca — 42%.
  • Koochiching — 42%.
  • Lake — 52%.
  • St. Louis — 51%.
  • Ashland — 49%.
  • Bayfield — 56%.
  • Douglas — 46%.
