Nintendo has maintained rosy relations with Microsoft for a number of years now, and obviously, this extends to the Xbox Game Studio, Mojang (aka the team behind Minecraft and more recently Minecraft Dungeons).
We've just seen more proof of this with the announcement that Steve, Alex, Zombie and Enderman will all be joining Nintendo's all-star brawler, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as playable fighters. And in a new post over on Minecraft's website, Mojang Studios' chief creative officer Jens 'Jeb' Bergensten has praised the "amazing collaboration" with Nintendo:
“Bringing Minecraft to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the result of an amazing collaboration with Nintendo. As fans of the series and avid players at our studios, we couldn’t be more excited to see Minecraft join Smash’s already legendary lineup of characters.”
Even the official Xbox account chimed in on Twitter, reaffirming its own hype:
"How could we not be [hyped], Smash Bros. is a classic!"
The addition of Steve in Smash follows on from Banjo-Kazooie - another Microsoft IP - being added to the game's roster last June. Now, how about Master Chief to top it off?
